MENU

We have put together a list of frequently asked questions about moving from Germany/Europe. If you have any questions, please contact us by phone, email or during the home viewing.

  • Q. Can you also handle moves from areas other than Düsseldorf and Munich?
We cover the whole of Germany from our direct offices in Dusseldorf and Munich, so please feel free to contact us by phone or email for more details.
  • Q. Can you help me move from countries other than Germany?
Yes! We can provide support in Central Europe, including Belgium, Switzerland, and Austria; Eastern European countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary; and the four Nordic countries, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, by utilizing the network we have built up over the years.
  • Q. Do you handle moves within Germany and Europe?
We can handle not only intercontinental moves using sea/air freight, but also land moves within Germany/Europe, and our dedicated Japanese coordinators will provide you with full support.
  • Q. Can you help me if I am moving outside of Japan?
Of course. We utilize our worldwide network to cover the United States, Central and South America, European countries, Russia, China, Southeast Asia, India, and other areas, so please feel free to contact us.
  • Q. Can you pack my items for me? Can I get cardboard boxes in advance to pack my items?
We have a wide range of services and plans available depending on the contents, quantity, budget, etc. Please contact us first for more information, such as our Easy Pack service that includes packaging, or a cost-effective service where you can arrange for cardboard boxes and pack your items yourself.
  • Q. I'm not very good at organizing my belongings. Can you tell me some easy ways to organize/sort them?
We have specially made luggage sorting stickers that can be simply attached to the items being transported as part of your move, or you can attach them to each shelf or door of a storage shelf or cabinet that contains the items being transported, making it very easy to organize your belongings in advance.
  • Q. How should I dispose of furniture and other items when moving, and how should I transport furniture that I want to resell/give away?
We can handle the disposal of large furniture and home appliances that are difficult to dispose of yourself, as well as the transportation of household goods that you plan to resell or give away. Please contact our coordinator for details.
  • Q. Will Japanese staff provide support on the day of the move?
In Dusseldorf and Munich, where we have our bases, a Japanese coordinator will visit you during the work. If you are moving from other regions/countries, we will also dispatch a Japanese coordinator as part of our on-site service upon request.
  • Q. How long will it take for my package to arrive in Japan?
For shipments from Germany, it will take approximately 75 days by sea mail and one week to 10 days by air mail. We will provide you with more information when you inspect the property. (Currently, due to the effects of COVID-19, both sea and air mail are taking longer than usual, so please check with our staff for more information.)
  • Q. Are there any items that are prohibited or restricted from being brought into Japan?
The main items that are prohibited or subject to import restrictions are as follows: A) Poisonous substances, hazardous substances, narcotics (including cannabis), poppy seeds, opium, medicines not approved in Japan, etc. B) Firearms, swords, explosives, flammable items, matches, lighters, spray cans, etc. C) Cash, securities, precious metals such as jewelry and watches, altered or counterfeit currency D) Pornographic material that offends public order and morals (including images, videos, and drawings stored on a PC) E) Items that infringe on patents, copyrights, or trademarks (such as counterfeit branded goods) F) Meat products, dairy products, vegetables, plant seeds, dried flowers, foie gras, etc. G) Endangered animals and plants that are in conflict with the Washington Convention, and their processed products H) Cosmetics, soaps, etc., if the number of units per item is 24 or more, medicines equivalent to or more than two months' worth, disposable contact lenses, etc.
  • Q. I would like to send wine or beer. Is that okay?
Please rest assured. Each adult person may send up to three bottles of alcoholic beverages equivalent to 760ml each as carry-on baggage or separate baggage (moving cargo), and if you send more than that, you will be required to pay the liquor tax of 200 yen per liter (about 150 yen per bottle for wine).
  • Q. How can I arrange for house cleaning and renovation after I move out of my apartment?
After moving, you will need to go through the hassle of house cleaning and renovation (repairing the house, painting the walls, etc.).
